چکیده
639 Dengue virus (DV) infect ion is most ly asymptotic or produces a mild self-limiting acute febrile illness, dengue fever (DF), and a lifethreatening severe illness, dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) with minor or major bleeding from different sites. DHF has emerged as the most important arbovirus disease in man in the last three decades. It has been estimated that about 50 to 100 million cases of DF occur every year with about 250,000 to 500,000 cases of DHF . During epidemics of dengue, attack rates population 40 to 90 per cent among susceptible of whom a very large proportion is of children. The year 2001 witnessed unprecedented global dengue epidemic activity in the American hemisphere, the Pacific islands and continental Asia. During 2002, more than 30 Latin American countries reported over 10,00,000 DF cases with large number of DHF cases. This has been followed by extensive epidemics of DHF in several parts of India during 2003. Dengue vaccines: Problems & prospects

Vaccines under development: group B streptococcus, herpes-zoster, HIV, malaria and dengue.
OBJECTIVES To review the current state of development of streptococcus B, herpes-zoster, HIV, malaria and dengue vaccines. These vaccines were selected both because of imminent commercial release and because of specific problems with their development. SOURCES OF DATA A review of the literature was performed by means of a MEDLINE search, on the period 1996 to 2006, for the epidemiology and im...

Travel-acquired dengue cases have been increasing as the overall global dengue burden has expanded. In Korea, imported dengue cases have been reported since 2000 when it first became a notifiable disease. During the first four months of 2016, three times more dengue cases were reported in Korea than during the same period the previous year. A safe and efficacious vaccine for travelers would be ...

Zika virus (ZIKV) had remained a relatively obscure flavivirus until a recent series of outbreaks accompanied by unexpectedly severe clinical complications brought this virus into the spotlight as causing an infection of global public health concern. In this review, we discuss the history and epidemiology of ZIKV infection, recent outbreaks in Oceania and the emergence of ZIKV in the Western He...
متن کاملZika virus: History, emergence, biology, and prospects for control.
Zika virus (ZIKV), a previously obscure flavivirus closely related to dengue, West Nile, Japanese encephalitis and yellow fever viruses, has emerged explosively since 2007 to cause a series of epidemics in Micronesia, the South Pacific, and most recently the Americas. After its putative evolution in sub-Saharan Africa, ZIKV spread in the distant past to Asia and has probably emerged on multiple...

Dengue, a disease caused by any of the four serotypes of dengue viruses, is the most important arthropod-borne viral disease in the world in terms of both morbidity and mortality. The infection by these viruses induces a plethora of clinical manifestations ranging from asymptomatic infections to severe diseases with involvement of several organs. Severe forms of the disease are more frequent in...
